Lawrence and I cannot but draw parallel between some of the insights of Lawrence and UR Anantamurthy. One of the greatest cultural thinkers and creative writers of our times, , Karnataka\u00a0 has lost\u00a0 its\u00a0\u00a0 most influential\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 intellectual giant. Though I am not a\u00a0 student of\u00a0 Kannada literature, my limited reading of his texts, viz, <em>Samskaara,<\/em>,<em>Avasthe<\/em> ,<em>Suragi,<\/em> <em>Preeti mrutyu bhaya<\/em> \u00a0and <em>Maatu sota bhaarata <\/em>have only\u00a0 increased my awe, adoration and sheer admiration for his intellectual strength and keen insight into the heart of things.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Manasa Gangotri, where I studied still breathes\u00a0\u00a0 the fragrant memories of\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U R A and I believe he still lives in the hearts and minds of numerous academicians, students and media personalities.\u00a0\u00a0 In fact, the whole\u00a0\u00a0 intellectual arena of Indian languages, most importantly Kannada and English\u00a0\u00a0 academia are deeply indebted to U R Ananta Murthy.<\/p>\n<p>Though some of his views regarding religion, sex even are controversial,<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> one cannot deny the sheer truth behind those statements<\/span>.<\/span> I believe most of his view points and ideologies have been politicized, a great injustice to a man of such intellectual caliber.<\/p>\n<p>One cannot but feel ashamed and annoyed at the blatant show of intolerance, stupidity and ignorance of the very concept of religion by the so called protectors of Hinduism.
